Damaru is a symbol of cosmic genesis as well as dissolution. It is the universal sound out of which, the creation manifested itself. And whenever sound touches us, it transforms us completely! That’s the endeavor at Damaru - to transform individuals whose life it touches!
Damaru is like a constellation of tools and techniques coming together, where Mauli takes a case based approach, customizing a personal regime unique for each individual, using a wide range of modalities that she has mastered over years.
With its foundations in authentic traditional Yogic practices backed by cutting edge scientific research, Damaru was conceived in the lap of Himalayas, high up in Dharamkot, in July 2016 as a flash of insight to Mauli Bavisker. Inspired by her own self transformational journey and practice of over 18 years, set her sights on sharing her knowledge of these ancient techniques for achieving complete Wellbeing and Vibrance among one and all.
A designer by education, vocalist at heart and a practitioner of Yoga for life, Mauli Bavisker is a trained Yoga Therapist and an International Yoga Teacher. She loves to design and combine the use of indigenous powerful healing sounds in her practice along with the mind-based approach of Yogic practices to heal the person at emotional, mental and physical levels.
Mauli quit her thriving Design practice in 2008 to do her Masters in Hindustani Classical Music, Masters in Art, Design and Communications and a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy, following her heart. With three masters degrees, an advanced certification from Yoga Alliance USA (E-RYT 500), an in-depth training in the Vedic Mantras, an advanced certification in prenatal yoga (RPYT, Yoga Alliance, USA), a certified Yoga Therapist from International Association of Yoga Therapists, USA (IAYT), she is the founder of 'Damaru' - A Yoga and Sound Therapy Studio and conducts therapy in person and globally via digital platforms.
She practices various techniques such as Yoga therapy, Sound therapy, Healing Vedic chants, Himalayan bowls and Cupping therapy from the Traditional Chinese medicine to name a few.She has been trained in various schools of yoga such as Sivananda, Kashmir Shaivism, Krishnamacharya, Iyengar, SVYASA, Yoga Alliance (USA) and uses her wide knowledge to treat her therapy clients with a safe and scientific approach.
Although she is busy working with individuals having a myriad of psycho-somatic ailments, she feels happiest when working with children, pregnant women, new mothers, children and teenagers as she strongly believes that if we sow healthy seeds, when they sprout, they will create a beautiful society!
There are six major paths or philosophies in the Indian tradition and one is free to choose the path that appeals the most. Even in the source text of Raja Yoga, the YogaSutras, Patanjali gives multiple paths to reach the same goal. Similarly at Damaru, that no one method can suit all. So we use various modalities and approaches that work on body, mind, emotions and energies to reach the desired goal of wellness.
Mauli strongly believes that as much important it is for science and spirituality to function hand in hand, it is equally important to stay away from the current so called new age fads and superficial techniques, and stay firmly rooted in the traditional wisdom that has stood the test of time over the ever changing social fabric for more than 6000 years.
With more than 18 years of self practice, and 8 years into teaching, Mauli now has a nack of identifying what works best for whom. She customizes the practices using multiple tools and methodologies so that, together, they are most effective for the practitioner.
Practitioner of Raja Yoga and Naada Yoga, Mauli is trained in various schools of Yoga. She is the first women in Gujarat to be certified as an internal Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, and the the first women in the city of Ahmedabad to be an E-RYT 500, a certified Yoga Therapist and a teacher of Vedic Chanting. While her Team of Yoga Instructors focus on the daily group classes, Mauli prefers to work one-on-one, applying the therapeutic aspects of yoga for her clients through asanas, pranayama, meditations, YogaNidra, Vedic chanting and other sound based modalities. She also conducts educational workshops and is a core committee member of Indian Yoga Association (IYA), Gujarat Chapter.
